How can counselling help?

Counselling offers you an opportunity to discuss any issues that may be worrying you, or creating anxiety, stress, difficulties at home or in a relationship, which may be stopping you from being your best self and/or achieving your life goals.

Secure and confidential

Counselling offers you a secure, confidential space where you may be yourself and discuss anything that is of concern to you. You are in control of what happens in your counselling sessions, you set the agenda, and together we will focus on what counselling might do to help you.

Supportive environment

It would be perfectly understandable to feel anxious when embarking on counselling, especially if counselling is a new experience for you. Please be reassured, that I will do everything I can to allay your fears, and to ensure your counselling experience is the best experience it can be.

Initial chat

If you would like to have an initial chat to see how we might work together in your best interests, please feel free to call or message me. I will be happy to discuss any concerns you have about the counselling process or how it might be for us to work together - I am just an email or call away.

What to expect

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

I offer a secure, confidential space where you can explore any difficulties you may be experiencing. I undertake both open-ended and time agreed work according to your needs.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT FOR ME?

The words counselling and psychotherapy can be confusing and are often used interchangeably. In our first session together we will discuss what you wish to achieve from any future sessions and how you wish to go forward. If you wish to undertake sessions we will periodically review how sessions are meeting your needs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY?

Counselling: Usually involves an agreed time period, where we focus on a specific issue by exploring your thoughts and feelings, in order to increase your awareness and support any changes you may wish to make.

Psychotherapy: Often involves open ended work and is usually a more in-depth exploration of issues you may be experiencing such as depression or anxiety, which may have developed over a long period. We will work together to understand past experiences and their impact on you now. Understanding more fully the effect experiences may have had upon your life can be freeing, allowing you to grow and develop, so that life may be experienced more fully.
